Hello. My name is Allison, and I am the Creative Director and owner of Southern Boheme.
It’s an understatement to say that the last two years of the pandemic have been a challenge to our collective psyche. We worked through toilet paper and Lysol shortages, we learned how to educate our children from home, and we realized the undeniable power of Zoom.
I read a quote during the pandemic that originally made me laugh, but eventually became the catalyst for a dream.
“If coronavirus can use this time to continuously create a better version of itself, so can I.”
What that quote subconsciously made me realize is the fleeting nature of time and the absolute value of how we spend it.
My entire professional career was spent in what I like to call the “happy business”. The early years spent in hospitality, then moving to special events and ultimately as a director and producer in live sporting events. After raising and watching my children grow and requiring less of my undivided attention, I asked myself what I wanted to do for the next twenty years…and Southern Boheme was born.
In my experience the special events industry while exciting and fulfilling, ultimately became predictable. I wanted to create something different. A special events company that focuses on small events, the type of events that are the most memorable.
Very few people remember anything about the last convention dinner or 300-person reception they attended. But we all remember the last time we had friends and family over for dinner with food and drinks that just taste better based on the company we keep. Something magical happens when people gather, and I wanted to help create those environments in a modern and sustainable way.
